have a 1985 115 hp mercury 6 cyclinder, straight 6. What type of oil for the lower? what is the gap for the spark plugs? fuel/oil mixture? The manual is on the way but want to get this out of the way. Also, has anyone rigged up something cool to help them pull the motor up? It is heavy and don't have the money to get/install an electric tilt. Any other help you can provide me on this motor would greatly be appreciated!

What type of oil for the lower?
Almost any oil designed for use in a outboard lower unit will do

I am using Pennzoil 80W-90 ( outboard lower unit oil )on my Mercurys..

what is the gap for the spark plugs?
No gap, as it should used surface gap plugs like NGK BUHW .

fuel/oil mixture?
2% TCW-3 approved 2-stroke oil

Used powertrim units can be found on Ebay and other sales sites rather cheap from time to time ( your 86 model uses the same units a many of the V6 engines from the same years (84 > 91/92 ? )

Re: need some help on fluids!

1 pint of 2 TCW-III cycle per 6 gal of gasoline gives a 50::1 mixture, which is a 2% mixture.
