Since I had the lower unit off to have the cavitation plate repaired, I decided to go ahead and replace the impeller myself this time. I have a couple of very novice questions.

1. It looks like the impeller is sort of crammed into the housing. The blades are significantly bent to get it to fit. Is this the way its supposed to look?

2. Is there a top and bottom to the impeller and if there is , how do I identify it?

Thanks.

Re: Replacing Impeller

1. yes
2. no, though s/m 14 does make note that if your using a used impeller that the blades have taken a set, that you need to be sure and orient the bend of the impeller blades in a ccw direction..
