Gimbal bearing lube problem

I have a 1998 Four Winns RX 4.3 GL/SX Drive. I have the drive off and now I'm trying to lube the gimbal bearing. I only have about 1 1/2 clearance to get the lube gun on the fitting. I can't find a fitting to attach to the gun to get in such a tight place. Tried a flexible hose and tried to rig an elbow on a regular fitting, but still to long. Any help on a smaller fitting would be helpful.

If you replace the existing fitting on the boat to an angled fitting would that help? They make 45 and 90 degree fittings to replace hard to reach straight ones.

There should be ample room to attach a grease gun to the fitting whether the drive is on or off.

Are you trying to grease it from the inside while the drive is off?

It should be greased using the fitting on the side of the transom.
