Does anyone own one of these? http://www.nauticmotors.com/Nautic_2-2.5-3.html

These motors sell under many different brands around the globe, however they appear to be all manufactured in China by OSHEN Industry Group Inc. http://www.oshenmoto.com/. Here is what appears to be a factory demo video of 2.5 HP 2-stroke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7h4n1kBFv4

I bit the bullet and ordered one 2.5HP 2-stroke motor just like the one in the video for trolling on my 16' glass boat. Time will tell if its any good. Please share your thoughts.

The problem with the Chinese motors has always been spare parts availability. I's still spend my money on a late 60's/early 70's 3 or 4 HP Evinrude if I were getting a small 2 stroke.

For $460 including S/H I can buy 2 of these for spare parts compared to well known brands in its class. What sold me is the weight, I need light motor and at 18lbs this is the lightest 2.5 HP I could find. The weight is important to me as I have heavy 90 HP FORCE, 12 Gallon fuel tank, and heavy duty marine battery all concentrated in the stern area. Needles to say last thing I want is to add another 80+ lbs for motor + bracket.

sounds like you don't want feedback but affirmation.

Well, since you've already ordered one, you'll be the one able to provide feedback, once you get it and see how it works out. I doubt that anyone else here has one.

Let us know what you think of it when you first try it out, and then again at the end of the season. That will be really helpful for others who are tempted to buy one.

My initial thoughts are that $460 will buy a really, really nice 32 lb. Johnson or Evinrude 4 hp outboard that has just a few hours on it.

Perhaps you are right. I just wanted to know if others have used these motors. I know many people here prefer older Johnsons or Evinrude motors, however I already have a 20 year old US Marine Power FORCE which I care for like my baby. I wanted a new lightweight 2 stroke kicker motor to compliment my main 2 stroke motor.

I will make youtube videos during break in, trolling, and at the end of season as suggested by CATransplant.
