Well, after a few frustrating weeks, I really need some help. Have a 75hp '85 Mariner that the previous owner said seemed starved of fuel everytime you try to give it the throttle. Cleaned the boat and motor up a bit, new gas and hit the lake. Ran great and zipped across the lake and then died. Couldn't get it fired for quite some time and finally it did and limped it back to dock.
Sprayed carb cleaner while motor was running with muffs at home and the motor seemed to run great. Back to lake and wouldn't even idle. Sounded like running on two cylinders. Thought maybe fouled plugs or fuel pickup clogged in old tank. Switched tank to a known good one and changed plugs. Back to lake and ran great, idled fine. Took to lake next day and again running on two cylinders. Compression is great and even on all four but top two plugs are dry.
Changed plugs again, ran motor on muffs again and it appears top carb is not getting gas. Squirt a little gas into carb and it runs like a top. So, we took the top carb off and took it apart expecting it to be dirty. Not the case. Looked great but took it apart and cleaned everything anyway but nothing looked laquered up or any sediment. Checked lines as well and they were clear. Checked fuel pump and appears to be good. Primer bulb seems to prime just fine.
So, question is, any suggestions? Please help!!!
