oil leak on 4hp

I Have A 1981 4hp Evinrude, At Season End Storing Motor Upright Have Oil Leak Out Of What Appears To Be Leg Drain Hole.is This A Problem ?

If it is gear oil it is a problem, if it is unburned outboard oil it is no problem. You need to be a little more specific. Posting pictures always helps. If oil is leaking out from your gearbox then most likely water is leaking in as well. Drain your leg oil and check for water. If it is OK, then most likely it is unburned outboard oil.

If it's a drain hole then it's fine its just unburned oil/fuel goo. If it's coming from the lower unit then you will need to re seal.

thanks for your help. i suspected it was unburnt oil as i drained the gear box and found no water or milk color in the oil.
