Remove floatation insulation under bench seat or not ?

I'm in the process of converting my 1985 Springbok Resorter (25hp Envinrude) 15.5' into a fishing friendly boat (Casting deck, trolling motor etc).

Q: Should I remove some of the insulation from the underside of the front bench seat area so I can better secure the casting deck / boat seat ? or simply use metal style stainless steel screws and screw through both the carpeted floor (that I'm installing) and drive them into the top of the existing bench seat ?

A: ?

Please advise,

M.

One is just way easier than the other but either will work fine.

I did my bow deck with the screws through the wood/carpet because my battery is in the bow and it worked really well, the screws sink into the wood so you really don't even notice them.
