I am changing the water pump for my 2002 150 hp johnson 2 stroke. I am unable to remove the impeller. It will not budge when pulled on or pryed. Any ideas on how I can remove it?
With a sharp knife, hacksaw, whatever, cut the rubber impeller away from its hub at one point, Now, using a sharp chisel and a proper hammer, cut into the metal hub of the impeller and split it. That'll do it.
Lexus, before you take a chistle to it, smack it in the CCW direction with a mallet while holding the drive shaft with a strap or pipe wrench. The plastic keys are designed to jam the impeller into position. Be careful not to ruin the splines on the driveshaft.
