I am wanting to replace my pontoon boat floor with aluminum, but I am unsure of what thickness of aluminum to use and what type of screws to use to bolt it down? Thanks
If you're going to keep that OMC Cobra, please for the love of everything good in the world, get an OMC factory service manual. Not a Clymers, Not a SELOC. You can find them on eBay.
If you were to use just aluminum thick enough to redeck a toon it would cost more than the boat, a single sheet of 3/16''x4'x6' is roughly $300,the deck would be smoking hot if the sun is out and it would be deafening at speed.
There is a reason companies don't do that, they do make an aluminum ply decking but again it is REALLY expensive.
As stated I would stick with ply, find marine ply and use that, it will last for years and years and be alot less than aluminum.
Here (locally) the State uses aluminum decking for the big signs on the highway. It is extruded and the pieces are 6 to 8 inches wide ...... it is excellant stuff, strong, anodized but wow is it big bucks as compared to plywood.

Used by the highway departments, of course it costs a lot
Go with Plywood covered in resin, csm, cloth; marine plywood if you can afford it, ACX if you cannot or any comparable plywood with the last letter an X for eXterior.
CDX is an option, however it has the probability of more voids, or football patches in each layer, and the first letter tells you the quality of the best face, the second letter is the back face.
