uprate johnson 35hp into a 40 hp ?

hello,
can anyone tell me what must be done to uprate a 1984 johnson 35 hp into a 40hp?
any help most helpful

Simple. Buy a new motor. Not meaning to be a smart-***, just the way it is. You wouldn't notice the change anyway.

You would probably have to change more parts than the motor is worth. A way to check is to go to http://shop.evinrude.com and pull up both the 35 and 40 HP and see the differences in Carb, powerhead, intake and exhaust.

Best to follow FR's advise as the 40 is a totally different engine. different block,bore,stroke,midsection,etc
