1987 Evinrude 110hp STALLS OUT, HELP

First time poster, I have 1987 110 Hp Evinrude Outboard. Bought boat and motor together. Has been sitting outside for a while. Problem and high priority is that im running out of time. Wanted to get it going by next weekend. Problem is motor idles rough and when I go to put it in gear and give it gas, it dies. Gas tank is a metal tank with a solid gas cap. But I noticed the other day when I was carrying the gas tank with the cap closed after filling it with about 4 gallon of gas, gas was squirting out the fitting where the hose snaps on, is this normal? HELP PLEASE. Was looking forward to fishing next weekend witht the fam. Thanks for any help.

tank, valve is probably stuck. sounds as if you need to clean and rebuild carbs. read the TOP SECRET FILE, 1st thread in this forum.
