Hello,

This is my first post to this forum, I have read lots of posts and searched this site many times. Now I have a question.

I have a 1966 40 HP Evinrude Big Twin 2 Stroke and I recently replaced the impeller and after starting this motor up How much water should be coming out the spout?

Here is a video of the motor running.

If I give it half throttle should it be a Steady stream?
Is that a normal amount of water to be coming out? I did not check which way the splines were on the original impeller and this is my first time starting the motor so I do not know how much should be coming out of the motor. I just want to make sure that the motor does not over heat in the middle of the lake.

Thanks

Looks good to me. That motor doesn't have a steady stream - just spits. Let her run a bit, then touch the cylinder head - should be able to hold your finger there for a few seconds. Or splash a little water on the head - if it doesn't sizzle, you're good to go.

the tale tell shows you the pump is pumping, it does not tell you the tstats are opening and closing, keeping the motor at the correct temperature. it looks fine.
