Default 1994 mariner 60 HP, power trim only work down

Repaired trim motor yesterday, tested ok in the bench.
Tested several times up and down.

Today mounted on the boat, the power trim only working one way, down.
(This was before the piston was connected to the outboard.)

The trim motor is working...

If it is a two wire then one of the relays is bad.

The two wire grounds thru the normally closed contacts in the relay that is NOT triggered.

If it runs 'UP' then the NC in the 'Down' relay is good then failsl to run Down it is either failed NC in the in the 'Up' relay OR burnt contacts failing to make a connection when the Down realay contacts its Normally Open (NO) contacts.

An easy way to check if the relay or the pump is bas is to disconnect the 2 wires from the PTT unit at the bullet connectors and connect them directly to a battery. Green on positive and blue on negative should go down and vice versa.

If it works with the direct connections, you'll know something is wrong ahead (trim relay, switch). If it doesn't work, then it's in the PTT unit.

Thanks for the answer

The motor is working both ways, but not lifting.

There is a hydraulic problem...

Any known problem, when it works down, but not up?
Like o-ring, valve ore the pump itself. Any drawing available of the pump itself?

It's the two wire type, design one.

The pump "base" look like design I, ant the motor look like design II

Ok, Reinstall it on the motor, run the trim motor in the up position and lift the OB with your hands. lock it into the full up position and fill it with Dextron III ATF. let it sit a minute and then cycle it down and then up. You may need to help it. Let is sit for 10 minutes to let the air bubble out and refill and repeat, until all air is gone and the unit is bled.

Thanks Chris1956,

It's exactly what i did before I read you reply.

With the filling screw removed, I could tell it was "sucking" air.

Boat on trailer in small hill, hooked of the trailer coupling to level the boat.

Working ok now.

But was surprised, it was working in the bench and not on the boat without load from the OB

Was afraid it was broken ore full of dirt

Changed brushes on the motor and every thing seems ok now...
