I am working on a father/son project: rebuilding an old Evinrude Sportsman 4416-13566. I did have spark until the brittle 62-year old spark cable snapped in half. The coil/magneto has what looks to be a solder point for the wire on the exterior of the jacket. Now; I can attempt to fuse a new wire to what is left from the coil (about 3? of OK wire), or install a whole new wire to the solder point on the coil/magneto. Has anybody had experience with this repair? I do not want to screw-up a working magneto.
Also, does anybody know what spark plug model, number and gap I should have.....being optimistic that I can fix the wire problem.
Thanks, Ken
