Well I am in the mist of getting my Pontoon Boat with my 70 Horsepower Johnson Model# J70ELCTE going. So far I have did everything myself to get her ready. I installed just this past weekend a complete power tilt and trim that I can raise/lower the motor at the motor and up front inside the boat and got one heck of a deal I could not pass up on it on Ebay and she works flawlessly. I also changed out my water pump and decided to crank her up today to verify I get good pee flow from the tale-tell. Yes, I do and it is very strong pee flow and if your not paying attention that bugger will get you wet before you know it and then your soaked. Anyway, the question is my outboard ran great today and I ran it inside a big trash can for about 30 minutes. The motor felt very cool to the touch around the heads and the block area. Also I noticed the whole time it was running that the two exhaust relief holes was constantly spitting a stream water out the back of her and I also noticed that small size chunks of round sand sized black hard charcoal color looking stuff floating around the top of the water inside the trash can and of course the water was nasty after the 3o minute run. I am guessing that charcoal looking stuff is the carbon build up and I did put 2 whole cans of Seafoam down the built in gas tank that I put 15 gallons of gas in today. Do you think I need to replace the thermostats since the back two exhaust relief holes where constantly spitting a stream of water out back and I am thinking those tiny black hard charcoal looking pieces are the carbon build up inside the motor. Please advise, Bob
