1985 Johnson Evinrude 30 hp - oil drain plugs stuck

Trying to get the oil drain screw and fill screw off but boy is it tough ...
I don't want to damage it any more thaN I have.
Are they reverse threaded ? Its a pretty big slot screw. Tried wd40 maybe jigaloo or penetrating oil might help ...

anyone out there know how to get these stubborn screws off ? Do I need a gasket when I re-instal ?

Please advise.

Everyone here lately has been singing the praises of an "impact driver." You know, the tool with a bit set that is used with a hammer. When the hammer strikes the tool, a downward and turning force is created. They're probably about $15 bucks at an auto parts store.
