I have a 218 carolina skiff with a 115 zukie, proped with a 14x21, during break in no knock ect... I recently tryed to pull a skier and when I go from 0-to WOT I get what sounds to be spark knock, I feel like maybe its the prop. If it is what direction should I go, 13x 19 any suggestions. Oh by the way I do reach WOT rps around 5900 with a standard load ( not pulling a skier )
This is my first experance with 4 strokes , any help?

Re: Spark Knock pulling a skier??

I couldn't find the 218 but I assume it is 21ft.I don't know the gear ratio but it surprises me that a 115 on a 21ft will turn 5,900 with a 14 X 21 prop what is the speed?I would assume something isn't just right with the motor.
Most have some sort of ignition knock supresser.Does it require 87 octane or
higher?
Are there any octane recomendations for extreme service.Did someone maybe get the wrong plugs? If you want to try to solve it with a prop a 19 may help. But you'll have to watch the rpms.I'm assuming 5900 is probably about the max.
