lower unit oil mariner 60

How often should the oil be changed? I check it every year and it looks like new. No water or milky colour.
I have a bunch of bottles of Type C gear oil. Can I use that in a Mariner?

I would change it annually, Joed.

I wouldn't use type C. It might be okay to use it, but it was intended for hydro-electric gearcases.
