how to identify if my evinrude is electric shift or not.
I recently bought our first boat and am trying to determine for sure if its electric shift or not( controls say selectric) and if I need class C for my lower end. the model number is 60073-D serial J12631. its a 15 foot open bow seaswirl that its powering ( not that that matters). the controls for the trannie have been switched over to toggle switches. thanks for all and any help. I am sure I will be here for all my educational needs ( first boat = newb).
we all need to support iboats marine store when ever possible. you get, competitive prices. fast shipping, top notch customer service. also it provides us, this great FREE forum.
Re: how to identify if my evinrude is electric shift or not.
so does that mean it is electric? and how do I tell? also is it hydro-electric or just electric? I am getting mixed answers while searching , and have found two lower ends one electric and one hydro-electric. I don't "need" a lower end was just looking to try to figure this out
Re: how to identify if my evinrude is electric shift or not.
Your motor is a 1970 60hp Evinrude. It is hydroelectric... As a rule, the hydro electric lower units are through-hub exhaust. Electric shift versions have the exhaust exit above the prop.
