Hard to start

I have a 2000 Mercury 30hp 4 stroke that is hard to start. I was told that the enricher may be bad. How does this work?

The below guides may help. The are from a shop manual for a 150hp two stroke, but all enricheners works essentially the same way. Getting the shop manual for your particular motor would be the best.
