My 1986 mercury 50 hp 2-stroke has just had both carbs professionally rebuilt and tuned, stator replaced, plugs and wires replaced, all fuel lines replaced, fuel filter replaced. I recently took it out for a test run and she ran great for about 15 to 20 mins. Then i went over a wake from another boat as it passed and my outboard suddenly lost over half its power and speed and wont open up any more, any suggestions? also compression is good and water pump and temp has been professionally checked too.

It sounds like who ever cleaned the carbs did half a job and did not clean the tank, so when you hit the wake it shook crude in the tank up and the fuel pump sucked it up and pumped it into the carbs so your back to square one.
