Here's what we call your typical liberal-media- bias:

LAUER: I talked to a prominent Democrat in Louisiana who said that this type of an appearance, while it's great to see you guys rolling up your sleeves and grabbing a hammer and helping them with this piece of wall here, that it's a photo op, and they want to see a plan on paper. Do you have that kind of a plan?

BUSH: I don't think Washington ought to dictate to New Orleans how to rebuild. We have a different philosophy than whoever the prominent Democrat was you spoke to. Laura and I had dinner with Mayor Nagin and a group of distinguished New Orleans citizens from all walks of life, and my message to them was we will support the plan that you develop.

Doesnt look like news reporting to me....more like provoking a riot....

At least Bush responded correctly....let NO come up with the plan...why should the FEDs dictate how to rebuild...other than the libs wanting the FED's to do for them because they can't do for themselves!

OJ,

Not sure why this gets your hackles up. Bush's response should make any rational person think about the role of local and fed. Although Lauer was hoping to make him look bad, I think it backfired. Score one for Bush.

I continue to marvel at how Bush is screwed either way though. If he doesn't show he's not compassionate, if he does show it is a photo-op. It amazes me how he is screwed either way. Someone should do a story on that . . .

I agree with you Cat..truth is...I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for Rush Limbaugh's ( THE Entertainer) website.

And, I would have named it oddjobs troll of the week but Ken beat me to that this week. :p ....hes got too many posts on the union toi compete with. :)

Matt Lauer's "interview" style is more like a cross examination of a hostile witness. It is that way with everyone but worst with conservatives. He always has a "have you stopped abusing your children?" type of approach.

No way would I consent to a live interview with Lauer, and probably not with Katie either.

I think my opinion of NBC's editorial bias is well known.

My question is, does Bush really know what to do with a claw-hammer?

So you guys would all prefer that the press would all bow down to our great leaders.

The press (and whatever you consider Lauer to be) has an absolute duty to ask tough questions of our leaders, whatever their partisan stripe) just to see what they have to say. How else can we possibly learn anything?

The president gets plenty of opportunity to frame the discussion and make speeches without the input of the press.

I for one do not want softball (Are you in favor of mothers and apple pie?) questions asked of our politicians. I want to hear them think on their feet and react honestly. It is the only way to form an impression of them.

I can't believe this is what you folks want, unless you are so afraid of your ideology and your president your fear it cannot stand any scrutiny.

PW, the Press has an absolute duty to ask questions that are not blatantly preloaded. You show your true colors when you defend Matt Lauer as just being an impartial questioner when in fact he is an inquisitor!

As we know, many just listen to the question. The given answer goes unheard and that is just what the Leninesque media is counting on.

How could anybody possibly be impartial? Yes ask tough embarrassing questions. The questions are not the issue really, the answers are.

The interviewer gave the president an opportunity to respond, to distinguish himself from his critics. You can't really tell from reading the quotes what kind of tone was used, but it looks to me like a hanging curve ball, and GW crushed it.

Engles and Marx were never the practitioners that Lenin was. Without Lenin their philosophy would have died. Along with that, all of the 'progressive' techniques used to fool the proletariate would never have been developed.

If I were a supporter of Bush, I would not want tough, impromtu questions asked of him either. These are the times when he is at his worst. I will give him credit this time. He did a nice job with Lauer. When W speaks from the hip, he often shoots himself in the foot. Good thing he was not using a framing nailer. :)

Well, that is just about the funniest thing I have heard yet!

Let the poor Republicans alone! They are trying their best, and I'm sure they mean well. They're just a bit handicapped and incompetent.

Yep, that's how hardball politics should be practiced.

We should probably not even mention it when Rove and Libby are led out of the White House in handcuffs!

Actually, the old adage that if you don't have or can't find something nice to say, don't say anything at all seems to be in full swing here on this board...

Whoops!

That "handicapped" remark was a bit insensitive.
I should have said "idealogically challenged"
