Evinrude engine identification help

I purchased a 155 HP commercial engine. The previous owner said it was either a 1989 or 1990. I can't find a serial number for identification. Are there physical differences between to two years? There are two models of this engine. One is a E155WTLESM and the other is a E155WTXESM. What is the difference?

Those motors go by model numer not serial number for the year. "ES" designates 1990 so both model numers you list are the same year. WTL means a Work (commercial) model, T means it has Trim & tilt from the factory, L means it's a 20" motor. WTX means Work model, TnT and a 25" motor.
