I got this tach and just realize that it just have one ground connection which is shared for the tach to fucntion as well as for the light.... Well, I run a 2 battery system. I have a battery just for the motor and a second for everything else. If I connect the light to the running lights then I would have to join both batteries in the ground... I could run a relay off the lights to keep the 2 batteries isolated....
Have any of you run into this scenario?

Re: Teleflex signature Tach and

Connecting the grounds on the two batteries has no effect regarding isolation. It's the positive end of the circuits that need isoltation. with the grounds connected it doesn't matter where you feed the tach from. Besides, the tach should be powered from the engine harness which is fed from the start battery. The +12 volt connection when the key is on will feed both the tach and the light. If you jumper the +12 volt feed to the tach and the internal light the light would be on only when the key is on.

What Im goin to do is connect the light to the running light that way the tach light will be on only when I have my running light on. I might install a phase charger anyway later in the season so connecting the negative pole of the batteries together I guess is inevitable... Thanks!!!
