I don't normally expect people to reply to a sticky post so I do not check it often.
However, I noticed a few questions were posted so I will try to answer them. For a timely answer, you are probably better off making a new post with your question.
Noah: The 2 cylinder is a bit different than the larger three and four cylinder engines. The shift linkage is a bit different and Usually the water pump is held on with three screws. It can be four though. The impeller is driven by a stainless pin in a hole in the shaft and only the bottom four bolts need to be removed--that is if I understand you that you have a five inch extension to make the engine a long shaft.
Novice: the impeller is most likely bad. Even if the thermostat is stuck closed, some water will exit the idle relief vents in the back of the engine. Couldn't hurt to check it though.
J2The Griff: A 93 Force has a Mercury modified lower unit. It is similar to earlier ones but the pump is a bit different and there is a two piece drive shaft. In some respects, since the pump body is plastic with a steel liner, it is easier to remove it and change the impeller. Many of these lower units had a speedometer pick-up in them so that tube needs to be detatched but other than that, it is similar to earlier units.
Wild N Crazy: The 98 force used a Mercury lower unit and a rotary shift rod instead of a push-pull rod. The lower bolts up like a Mercury and is different than earlier Force lowers. I have not worked on them yet so can not give good advice.
