When we purchased our welded aluminum boat the previous owner had sponsons added onto the transom. I had not been on the boat before they were added but the previous owner felt the helped keep the stern up. (He sometimes loaded the stern with fishing gear)
A friend who has a similar boat recently decided to try the same thing and was also pleased with the results so I thought I might post a couple of photos.
The boat performs well with these sponsons, the only disadvantage I notice is the kicker had to be remounted further away from the transom which makes it harder to access while underway. An "A" frame has been mounted with a boat winch to facilitate easier raising and lowering of the kicker which works fairly well.
