Hi there I am new to being a boat owner, someone gave me a boat that the motor was in great condition but the boat needed work my question is the boat has a 60 HP Evinrude and the throttle cables and control box where left inside not installed. I just wanted to ask about the position of the throttle control box and the cables before I tried to hook everything up. Any help would be great thanks

Sorry the cables are attached to the motor but they are not attached to the throttle control box. The handle of the control box is also off. I wanted to know the position of the arms the cables attach to on the control box. If they need to be a certain way to be setup correctly. I also am not sure which cable would attach to what arm on the side mount omc control box

Put the control box next to pilot's seat. Then figure out if the cables reach the outboard...only smooth arc's allowed, no extreme bends. Post a pix the cable ends and we can tell you how to hook them up. Lube the control box to help it along.

Boy, that is gonna take some serious tinkering, I have had mine apart a couple times but to tell you how to do it over the computer is a bit to ask.

There is alot of stuff going on in that little box, move the warm up lever and the arm that moves is the throttle then pull both cables and figure out which one goes to the throttle linkage on the motor and the other arm is obviously the shift cable.

the handle I believe is held on with an allen head bolt but I never had mine off.

Your problem will come when you go to put the box back together as all the parts have to be in a certain position for it to work right so you may have to try several times.

I changed mine out last year but I still have it, if I get a chance tonight I will try to get some pics of it opened up.
