I just bought a boat and the Power pack keeps blowing. The person I bought it off of recently sent it to the shop and had it re wired and new timer base, rectifier, stator and Power pack installed.. He took it out and it has once again I believe the power pack has gone out. I have spark on 5 out of 6 coils. I have swapped coils with another one and the coil seems to work just not for that cylinder. If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to try anything to keep from blowing the next power pack...

A bad coil can send a spike into pack blowning the circuit for that cylinder,so replace it if you can tell which one it originally was.

I ordered new power pack and all new coils. while taking them off I inspected each one. The leg of the power pack for the coil that had went out I found that the bolt had backed out just enough that the back of the coil ground was arcing. not getting good ground. This seems to be the culprit. we will find out when the new parts come in..
