I am looking to buy a 25' Premier PTX pontoon with 225hp Suzuki OB.

It does NOT have a trailer with it and I will need to be picking one up. As soon as I began looking, I knew I was in over my head. Does anyone have recommendations? I will be trailering this behind a Toyota Sequioa about 150 miles roundtrip for the most part. Wanting mostly for weekends.

What things should I look for and stay away from? Would a used trailer be worthwhile... where should I look? The boat is used and as long as the trailer is in good condition, I would rather have a used trailer as well. But I want to ensure that I have something of quality, because the last thing I want is to be spending alot of time because I tried to save a bit of money, and now I am trying to fix the trailer every week.

You have two types, scissor and bunk. Personally, I would not go the scissor route as they tend to be unstable on the highway due to the short axles and are less likely to have brakes. I have found that used pontoon trailers aren't too plentiful, but a used one can save you a lot of money and if in decent shape shouldn't be a problem. I would however stick to a tandem trailer. Much more stable on the road and better rated for the load.
