My friend has this motor and says it will trim up but wont go back down, is there a solonoid controlling this and if so where is it located. I told him I would go over and have a look I just need a little insight to speed things up. Thanks.

Re: 1995 Force 70 hp trim

Depends upon whether the motor is running or not! If the motor is running and the tilt/trim won't go down, it is not the relay. Two relays are located inside the engine lower pan usually toward the front where the electic cable enters. Not sure on the Force 70 though.

If it is the Mercury single ram tilt/trim, I have one that will go up, however, it will not go down if it has been run to the limit of its travel. The motor runs and foams the oil. If I push down while running the motor then it will function.

I don't know if that is the nature of the beast or if it is a problem. As long as it is not run to its upper limit then it works normally.
