1150 Mercury Lower End Removal - couple of issues

Looks like I'm in for dropping the lower end on my Merc 1150, 115hp inline 6 from 1970. First, I have no water coming out of the pee hole when I use the ear muffs. Second, the oil that I drained out of it looks like hair conditioner, so I am assuming that it is emulsified because water got to it. This motor is new to me.

I think I'm clear on removing the bolts that hold the unit on, but I'm concerned with the linkage. What do I need to disconnect? Are there pointers to follow with this operation? Any tricks going back together?

Also, I am presuming that I need seals on the lower unit. Is this something that can be done at home? If so, is there a seal kit available? Any advice or recommendations here would be quite helpful to me.

Thanks for the support, guys!

Jim, Put motor in neutral. Linkage slips apart. Remove hidden bolt under zinc anode. Replace waterpump base, impeller and all gaskets. With any luck those are the leaking seals. Put in new gear oil, and try it out.
