bottom end oil

I have a 2006 mercury 9.9 4stroke outboard. Wondering is the mercury bottom end oil just 85w90 gear oil. I have a bunch of castrol stuff is why im asking

That's all it is. The "marine" gear lube usually has a dye in it so you can see it in the water if it leaks, but otherwise any automotive EP gear oil that meets API GL-4 or GL-5 requirements is the same stuff.
