Engine type: Mercury 150HP XR6 1996 V6 carb
Problem: stuck in reverse
I have removed the linkage control at top of engine and manually moved the shift arm. It swings 90 degrees freely with no resistance. I have ordered a service manual so thought I would post my symptoms on the forum to get any advice before I remove the lower unit.
Any ideas on what this might be? gears? shift fork? etc????
Do I need to remove the lower unit or are the gears and/or assembly accessible via the drive shaft behind the prop?
