My unit will not update to software version 1.8 and I need that version to use my Navionics Gold chip. I was able to upgrade to 1.4 and then 1.7 but the system crashes when trying to go to 1.8. The (POOR)customer service at Lowrance has not been able to help so far. I purchased the $199 Navionics chip as it stated it was compatible with my chartplotter but will only work with the new upgrade from Lowrance. The Lowrance web site is great and it answers many questions and allows for many downloads. Unfortunately, if you can't get the answer there customer service is very disappointing.
