1994 Mariner 115hp no power
Hello,
Working on a 115 mariner inline 4.
Symptoms:
We went out on three consecutive days. 1st day it ran great no problems. Second day ran great but would occasionally spit and sputter, but would still run top speed OK. Third day it will barely get up on plane. It runs smooth just won't develop any power/RPMs. In the fast idle position it revs up properly. I can move some people to the front of the boat and get it on plane and then trim the motor to get a little more speed but not much.
What I've done so far:
-Completely drained the gas tank
-Replaced fuel filter and fuel lines and pump-up bulb
-Drained the carbs
-Checked the spark plugs, OK
-Checked the linkages and cables when the throttle is put in the wide open position the carb butterflies open completely and the advance seems to move properly also.
Same issue yesterday.
I've got a couple of theories
-Fuel pump not delivering enough fuel
-Power pack (not sure what this does)
It is almost like the engine is being held to a very low RPM.
What do you think?
What can I check?
Any help would be appreciated...
