Any suggestions would be very much appreciated concerning my Mariner (mercury) six, twin cyl circa 1993. Runs rough.... disconnect upper plug lead - no difference. Disconnect lower plug lead - stalls. It will start and run without the upper plug installed (unevenly obviously) and I can see there is a pretty healthy spark from the upper plug if I hold the body to ground. There is fuel getting through.... it puffs out of the plug hole!
I can feel the piston moving normally if I poke a cable tie in and turn it by hand.
I'm hoping it's not a compression problem - is there an easy way to tell?
Thanks, Andy
