Hi All,

Looking to get into an I/O boat after several outboards. I found an 03 Bayliner 185 with the v6 option and a fiberglass liner. Looks clean, no paint, brakish water use.

Anyone have feedback on the power option, does this boat move? Any known technical issues?

Thanks

Mike

Sounds good to me. I have the 4.3 carb in my boat and love it.

I have the 2003 4.3 in my boat and it is just adequate but my boat is heavier. My only thought is that it won't have as much seat of the pants thrill as your outboards (depending on what you are used to) since you asked. My 85 HP Bayliner is more thrilling (read way faster) getting up to top end than my 4.3 190hp but the 190hp has higher top end and really feels like you are moving fast. So it is a give and take.

Mscanon99,

Did you end up getting this boat? What price did you end up paying, if you don't mind me asking?

I am looking at an 2002 Bayliner 185 with the 4.3 Merc and am trying to find a reaslitic price point.

Thanks.

+1

Those features are both options for that boat, looks like the seller knew what he wanted when he bought that boat (or got lucky). That would have brought the original price of the boat up close to other more expensive manufacturers. We liked the look of them alot, but decided on something a bit bigger. My 20' Glastron has the same motor/outdrive and runs just a tiny bit shy of 50mph. Perfectly adequate for skiing or anything else. Obviously the V8 motors would be more powerful, thus I said adequate. My primary duty is fishing and cruising with friends, so I am perfectly happy with my set-up.
