I just purchased a used fuel gauge for my Polaris. The guage has three wires, Red, Pink and Black. The sending unit has a pink and black. Can someone give me an idea on what goes to where.

Blacks - Ground
Red - ?
Pinks - ?

Pink from the sending unit to pink on the gauge. Red to 12V switched power (ie the purple wire on the ignition switch).

Bill,
I am having a tough time finding a ign source. There is no purple wire at the ign switch.

Do you have any other gauges? Tach for example. If you do, connect to the +12V (sometimes labeled "I") on the gauge.

Purple is the standard color for the switched +12VDC source. You might ID the motor. The older Mercs used a white wire, instead of the purple one.

Check the back of the ignition switch. Terminals have letters beside them. Connect the +12v wire to the "A" (accessory) terminal.

The only switches on the PWC are the push button starter on the panel in front of the seat, and the stop switch on the handle bar.

Since the push to start switch has +12 volts on it, connect it there. Just make sure you connect to the input to the switch, not the output. But also be aware that the gauge would be on all the time unless you install another switch to turn the gauge on and off.
