Default Force Mercury Universal Tach hook-up

I recently purchased a universal tach without a manual and brand uknown (desparate for a cheap tach). The three connections on the back are labled, "+", "-" and "P". However, I find the wires from the motor "IGN", "SEND", and "GRD". How do the wires cross-connect to the labled three connections? It's a new 12-pole tach I hope works.

tnx for helping watch my motor rev. carl

Thank you for the hook-up. To re-iterate:

+ equals ign.
- equals grd.
P equals send (rectifier)

Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing RPMs.

The hook-up worked perfectly and saw engine idle around 1100 rpms. Short rev up showed increase on dial. Can't wait to get it on the water now.

Great Lakes Skipper got a great review from me on ebay.

Too many toys, too little time.
