Yamaha I/O, good choice?

I was looking at a secondary boat to purchase today, the only thing that startled me was it said it has a Yamaha I/O engine. I didn't believe it at first, but in one of the pics, the outdrive definitely said Yamaha on it. Are these engines popular, and how hard is it to find replacement parts for it?

Ell NO it's not a good choice.

They were used for a couple of years in the US, then all hope was lost. Nothing. Other than Capt. Ken who visits here, I know of no one in the US that can help you with any repairs.
The aftermarket manuals makers won't even touch them.

You would be better off owning a boat with a Mercruiser 470 engine powering an OMC stringer drive.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's what I figured, I have been around boats most of my young 24 years on this earth, and that was the first (and only since) Yamaha I/O I have ever seen. It does look a lot like the Volvo Penta though
