I have a 79 Sea Ray SRV200 with a mercruiser outdrive, it has a 305 small block chevy. My question is do I have to use an engine of the same vintage or can I put a later model engine in? I bought an SEI Mercruiser Alpha drive to replace the old Mercruiser. I think it will work if I can get a coupler to fit the Alpha drive input shaft. Planning on using a 350 as replacement.

Thanks,

jas

Ayuh,...

If you want to use a motor Newer than 1986,...
You'll need the Up-dated Coupler....
I believe it's available here at iboats,... I Know Seirra sells them...

And if you use a 1987 to present engine, you'll also need a flywheel for it, and a starter.
But a 1986 and prior engine would re-use everything you have now.

Thanks Bondo and TilliamWe for the quick responses. I've had this boat sitting for about 4 years and need to get it put together and out on the water!
