backwards steering

I just installed a new steering cable. now i turn the wheel right and the boat goes left, and left goes right. any thoughts?

its a center console ( sea squirt ) and i installed everything new except the steering wheel itself. I replaced everything the way i removed the old parts.

if it is rotary helm, put the cable in the other hole, you have it in the wrong place.
