Hi, I have a 2hp johnson seahorse "1975". I'm changing my points and condenser and want to know how and with what to lubricate the wick ( the felt thing that rubs on the samething that the point rubbing block rubs on.
Thanks

Re: lubricating the wick

I bought a tune up kit and didn't get any grease. The stuff your supposed to get looks like a silicone grease but I'm not really sure if it is. I soaked mine in oil and then took a rag and soaked all the oil I could back out and called it good. It was probably a no no but didn't know what else to do. Rick.

Re: lubricating the wick

I have used motor oil on the felt piece many times and have experienced no issues because of it.
