I have a 150hp 2008 Etec on the back of a Triump 215 CC. 5 times in the shop because the throttle cables are so hard to move, friction is all the way out. The dealer replaced the cables last time I had it in there, in which I was told, "That's all we can do." They don't have a clue on what to do and I won't be going back. This is getting way past frustrating and if anyone has any ideas, I'll would love to hear them. I have to do something. Thanks.

sharp bends in the cables, cause them to be stiff to operate. Center consoles are note for this. disconnect the cable at the motor and see if it is still stiff, also move the linkage on the motor, should move smoothly, will take a little pressure to move it.

How long are the cables and how sharp are the bends? If you can make gradual turns they will work smoother so a longer cable may work better if you have the room to keep it from binding, or it may be to long forcing to many sharp turns. Look for a way keep the cables from binding. You may be able to reroute them with a little work.

The dealer installed new longer cables (Cheapest I'm sure) and put a big loop at the motor. I think, because my control handle is mounted vertical instead of horizontal, the cable pretty much has to make a straight dive into the floor out of the back. I don't have a lot of room to play with there but I'll give it a shot, it can't get any worse. I'm open to anything right now. Thanks Fellas. I'll let you know.........

not sure what that description means, you have a top mount binacle?
Me too, it isn't a problem with my J150 center console.
As tash said, disconnect from motor and test cable movement.

There can be binding inside the shifter binacle itself too.

My first boat, I did get the factory manual though, it walks you through the hookup nicely. The loop in the cable at the engine should work.
S bends will cause binding.

After you do as the other posters suggested, and it is still stiff. Complain to the boat builder if factory rigged boat and mfg of the control. BRP controls are not always the best.

Finally! Got ahold of Triumph today by phone and their willing to replace the cables with Teleflex TFXTREME Cables all covered under warranty. The rep said Triump is replacing any cable problems with Teleflex TFXTREMES. So we'll see how all this turns out. Thanks for the responses, I'll let you know how it turns out. Only bad thing is I have to drag my boat 80 miles to the dealer doing the work:rolleyes:
