Re: morey

The model number is actually QD-20, and it's a 1959 10 hp model. 24:1 fuel:eek:il ratio.

In the future, please include the model number of your engine and the problem in the title of your thread. That way, people who can help will spot your message.

Re: morey

My 10th edition of the Johnson Service Manual says that Johnson built it's first 10 in 1949. It was the Model QD-10. 1963 was the last year Johnson built a 10HP, it was the model QD-24. As the CAT explains, the QD-20 was a 1959. According to this book, Johnson never made a QO series of any HP. All Johnson 10s ever made were QDs.

In 40 years it is quite possible for an engine to get bonnets, powerheads, etc., etc. swapped, or even have the mounting clamp (complete with model/serial number plate) swapped. It also could have been repainted.

Please post a photo of the model number plate that says QO-20, and the outboard it is on.
