1994 Mercury 60 hr. 3 cyl, 2 stroke. Replaced the impeller for the water pump. Water comes out of the water pump discharge just fine. Oil is full. Put clam muff on and connected to hose, motor runs cool. Alarm sounds as soon as you turn on the key and stays on. One solid long tone. Can't figure out what the alarm is for. Followed wires from alarm, purple to ignition, tan with blue stripe to motor, splits here, one to oil, one to side of motor (block). Any ideas??

Re: another alarm question

it is probably the oil tank.these motors are known for the magnet that is glued onto a float in the oil tank to come loose & give a false signal.float up where oil is ,magnet down at bottom ,giving signal oil is low.
