Hello,
Great forum, just stumbled across it as I'm attempting to research outboards. I'm seriously considering buying a new '08 15 horse Mercury 4 stroke short shaft. I have a 14' aluminum V-Hull. It's an older Meyer's and I would consider it much heavier than today's aluminum fishing boats. It's built very well. I also keep a lot of gear on board such as floor boards, 2-3 batteries, etc. I currently have a 1964 10 Johnson on it that I'm ready to replace. I use this boat in a river 90% of the time. With my current motor it is very rare that I can get the boat to plane out with just me in the boat sitting in the center. With second person in the boat forget about getting anywhere quick. So my question is....Will a new 4 stroke 15 horse Mercury be enough motor? Any thoughts or input would be great! Thanks in advance.
