I have a 1993 Regal 196 se valanti and in the storage compartment where you put skis etc.. has cracks about 2 foot long. Theres about 4 of them. I have only had this boat for 2 weeks and took it out for the first time yesterday. We just went for a little joy ride and when i got home and inspected the boat, there was water in the storage compartment. I guess my question is will those cracks take in water and how do i fix it. Thanks for all the help, this is my first boat.

Do you see any damage on the outside of the boata in that area? I imagine most likely you're looking at minimal superficial gel cracking. I couldn't tell without seeing it but it doesn't sound like a big deal to me, if it was it would probably be fairly obvious. Most likely your water intrusion is coming from leaky bellows, through hull fittings or engine coolant system.

The water could possibly be coming in about Anywhere...

i think go look on the outside for a crack too....

when i was buying a boat, one of the first things i'd do was crawl underneath it from bow to stern. people thought i was crazy. not. found me a nice cobalt that was pretty sweet, except the the 2-3' crack in the bottom of the hull. i bet that one leaked.. i never found out for sure, but not because the dealer didn't offer to take me on a test run.... told him i left my pfd at home...

So it's just your storage compartment that is leaking?

Like others said, first you need to crawl underneath the boat and make sure there are no cracks/holes in the hull.

It is most likely just a superficial crack and the water is leaking in from the bilge. I'm far from an expert but I've read on this forum that water in the bilge is normal for a boat like yours. (just make sure your bilge pump is in working order)

Post some pictures so that we can see how bad the cracks are. Based on what you've said, I think some gel or silicone would be sufficient to seal it back up.
