this was asked and i did not know the answer.

friend has moor boat, he wants to know how often and how long his bilge runs, when not aboard. basically he wants to know if it is rain water or if his boat is leaking, and if it is how much.

the only thing i could think of is an hour meter, installed in the circuit. the he could calculate how long it ran since last check the meter, and the flow of the pump.

ideas?????

Re: Bilge pump recorder

That will tell him how "long" it ran (total time) but it won't tell him how often or how long each time it ran. A simple electric counter could be added to indicate the number of times the pump cycled. That number could then then be used to calculate the number of gallons pumped per cycle on average. Data loggers are available that would do that but the expense may not be justifiable. The hour meter would be the least expensive alternative but would also provide limited data.
