Tachometer Not Working

I just bought a 2005 21Sport powered by a 2005 Mercury 150hp Saltwater outboard last month. I've only ridden in the boat once just before I bought it. In preperation of launching the boat soon I started the engine today (on trailer) and noticed that the tach was not working. How can I check to see what the problem is? Is there a fuse somewhere I can check. The Proline owners manual says to look in the guage manufactures manual but I do not have one since I purchased my boat used. Is there a simple way to check the tach without going to a boat dealer/repair shop?
